Become a Maker this Fall at Imagination Station

As work continues Imagination Station’s KeyBank Discovery Theater addition, even more improvements and updates are coming soon for the science center. The museum will close to the public September 3 – 18 for its annual Fall Shutdown. This fall, visitors will enjoy updates to the Discovery Hall lobby area and upgrades in the KIDSPACE learning world.

Toledo’s Science Center will reopen Thursday, September 19, just in time for Momentum and the Toledo Mini Maker Faire. This month, Imagination Station provides plenty of ways to inspire makers to tinker, build and get creative!

Upcoming events:

Open Labor Day
September 2, 10am – 5pm

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer and Imagination Station’s Summer of Speed is winding down. This is your last chance for visitors to race LEGO cars, design a sail car, build a vehicle chassis from PVC pipe and test their pitching speed. All Summer of Speed activities are included in science center admission.

Annual Fall Shutdown
September 3 – 18

Toledo’s Science Center will close to the public for annual cleaning and repairs. In addition to this regularly scheduled maintenance, KIDSPACE and the Discovery Hall lobby will receive updates and improvements.

Tinkering Space: Electro Dough
September 19 – 30

Flour and water aren’t just for baking cakes. Learn about electrical circuits with play-dough. One conducts electricity and the other stops it. You’re the electrician and the inventor.  It's up to you how you want to make your dough models light up! Included with admission.

$5 After 5pm
Thursday, September 19, 5 – 8pm

Bring the whole family for the evening and experience hundreds of hands-on exhibits for just $5 admission each. It’s a great way to squeeze some science fun into your busy schedule at a special admission price! $5 After 5pm is offered the third Thursday of each month through December.

Art Loop: Dancin’ in the Streets
Thursday, September 19, 5 – 8pm

Design a creature to bring to life! Learn how to use a motor to get your creature moving, then teach your critter to dance and doodle, slide and shake in a way that’s all its own. Art Loop activities are free and science center admission is not required

Toledo Mini Maker Faire
Saturday, September 21, 12 – 6pm

The Toledo Mini Maker Faire is a free festival of invention, creativity and imagination for people of all ages. The Toledo Mini Maker Faire is part of Momentum, a weekend celebrating music, glass art and making in downtown Toledo. For more information about the Toledo Mini Maker Faire, please visit toledo.makerfaire.com. Toledo Mini Maker Faire activities are free and Imagination Station admission is not required.

Homeschool Workshop: Water Cycl
Wednesday, September 25, 10:30am – 12pm

Take a trip through the wonderful world of water as your students explore the water cycle. Students will discover the various forms water can take and the way it travels through a variety of experimentation and demonstrations. Registration is required and science center admission must be purchased separately for Non-members. Workshop pricing – Members: $12 per workshop or $100 for the nine-workshop series; Non-members: $17 per workshop and $145 for the series.
