Gathered to Feature dirtykics for September Art Loop

Gathered Glassblowing Studio, downtown Toledo’s premier studio gallery, is proud to showcase James Dickerson (dirtykics) as a Featured Artist in their ongoing series, Loop Nights at Gathered. Gathered will host an opening and public reception to be held on September 19th, 2019 in conjunction with The Arts Commission Art Loop. As part of Gathered’s Featured Artist Series, dirtykics will be displaying an exhibition of photographs titled Nothing to Lose. Nothing to Lose is a reflection on dirtykics’ daily interactions with people from the Toledo community, shot and printed using traditional analog film techniques and are often raw, unflinching, and honest portrayals of the people he encounters. dirtykics is a Toledo native since 1982, and has received Accelerator Grants from The Arts Commission in May 2017 and July 2019, along with his first major solo exhibition Lowercase at AIGA Toledo in August of 2019. 

A opening reception with refreshments and will occur from 6-9pm.

Additionally, Gathered invites the Toledo community to an artist discussion with dirtykics on Friday, October 4th, 2019 from 6-8pm, where the artist will discuss his methods, process and philosophy behind his documentation and artistic practice.

In collaboration with the City of Toledo and The Arts Commission, Gathered will also be hosting an event coinciding with the Momentum festival with local glass artisans fabricating specialty Keys to the City during the Art Loop. More information can be found on the Momentum Facebook page. 

Loop Nights at Gathered, a series of Featured Artist receptions hosted in conjunction with the Art Loop at Gathered Glassblowing Studio, announces new works by dirtykics with a public reception on September 19th, 2019 from 6-9pm. The Gathered hot shop will be featuring local artisans fabricating new Keys to the City of Toledo along with letterpress demonstrations from upstairs studio Black Iron Press.
