Tree City Playhouse Plans Two Holiday Plays

Tree City Playhouse, a community theatre associated with Sylvania Arts, will present two plays for the holidays. Directed by Dave Nelms, It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Playwill be staged December 12 and 14 at 7:30 p.m. and A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Playwill be staged December 13 at 7:30 p.m. and December 15 at 3:00 p.m. Adapted by Joe Landry, these beloved American holiday classics come to captivating life as live 1940s radio broadcasts with the help of an ensemble cast that brings a few dozen characters to the stage.  

This is the third year Tree City Playhouse has presented radio plays in December. According to Keith Ramsdell, Artistic Director, response to It’s a Wonderful Lifethe past two seasons has been positive. “It’s been fascinating to see audiences respond as one of their favorite stories is performed on stage as a time-period radio play.” This year, the group added A Christmas Carolto give patrons a second option and something new for the holidays. 

Both shows feature the acting talents of Kelly Fandrey, Larry Farley, Mark Owen, Bill Pierson, Keith Ramsdell, and Lydia Schafer, as well as the piano playing talents of Gail Mowry. Audiences will also enjoy several familiar Christmas songs presented by the cast. 

Performances will take place at Church 3TwentyOne, 5845 Centennial Road, in Sylvania. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and students, and $8 for children 12 and under at the door. Prices are $2 less per ticket if purchased in advance at sylvaniaarts.org. This show is suitable for the entire family.
