Lucas County to Host Virtual Meetings For Projects to Reduce Racial/Ethnic Disparities in County Jail Population

Daily Dose  |  10/19/2020 2:00 pm

As part of its affiliation with the MacArthur Foundation Safety + Justice Challenge, Lucas County will host a series of virtual listening sessions focused on criminal justice reform and racial equity with the goal of developing funded micro-grant projects to address ways to reduce the racial and ethnic disparities in the local jail population.

The ninety-minute session will focus on input from you – neighborhood residents, community stakeholders, businesses owners, organizations, and individuals who live, work, have interest or investment in Toledo zip codes 43604, 43607, 43608, and 43610.

Residents, advocates, and stakeholders who live in Lucas County but are located outside the targeted ZIP codes are invited to participate. Anchor institutions and community service organizations with operations in the targeted Toledo zip codes, including those directly impacted by crime and violence, are encouraged to participate. We encourage neighborhood groups, community action agencies and advocates to participate as well.

Virtual community listening sessions take place on the following dates and times:

Tuesday, October 20, 2020 – 5:00pm – 6:30pm

Wednesday, November 4, 2020 – 5:00pm – 6:30pm
