Northwest Ohio's Untold Stories Come Alive

BCAN's new short series debut

A fresh outlet for local history was launched this week with the debut of Untold: Hidden Stories of NWO on BCAN's social media channels. The short series, developed by Marcus Harrison, dives deep into Toledo's past and sheds a light on major turning points in the Glass City's history! The debut episode focused on Willow Beach, an amusement park located in Point Place where Cullen Park sits today. Hosted by Charles Welch, Untold takes an innovative approach to storytelling. The first episode featured reenactments, drone footage and some terrific archival photos and videos dug up from the files of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library's Local History Department. 

Charlie Welch, known by many for his local radio work and real estate expertise, is the perfect host for Untold. His enthusiasm for the history of his hometown is apparent and his curiosity is contagious. He helps weave the history stories through his interviews of local historians and his own research at the library and other facilities. The project is the brainchild of Harrison, a BCAN Lead Producer and Supervisor. Here's a look at the debut episode. Stay tuned for more episodes coming soon.
