Built in 1870, The Vistula Rose Bed and Breakfast is located in Toledo’s oldest neighborhood. Very convenient to downtown and riverfront attractions like the National Museum of the Great Lakes, this B&B has been aptly named the ‘Grand Dame’ of the Vistula Historic District. Giving the ‘Dame’ a second chance, owners purchased the home in 2003 after it had stood abandoned for nearly a decade. Now lavishly appointed, the B&B rooms exude Victorian charm with exquisite antique furnishings. Modern conveniences like walk-in showers with rain shower heads keep guests comfortable.

Located in the historic suburb of Maumee, this 1890s home was updated in 2020 but lost none of the charm inherent in the architecture of the original era! Welcoming hosts beckon you with a spacious second-floor suite - including a kitchenette - and massive wraparound porch. 

Nestled in the adorable town of Grand Rapids, a quaint bed & breakfast now resides in a restored 1898 flour mill along the banks of the scenic Maumee River. About 25 miles southwest of Toledo, The Mill House offers four guestrooms, each with a private bath. Within walking distance find shops, art galleries, restaurants, a brewery, plus local parks and trails. Their riverside patio sits along a migratory route for spring birds, and kayak rentals are available nearby. Discounts are offered to pastors and missionaries. 

When your B&B is owned by an antiques shop purveyor (and sits above the shop) you know you’re in to view some treasures. Above the Indiana Avenue shop in Perrysburg you’ll enjoy a suite with three bedrooms, a light-filled sitting room, and a jacuzzi bath. Erie, Michigan is only a 15 minute drive from Toledo’s city center, and offers a few lovely Airbnb options. In the Toledo suburb of Maumee, an artistic family renovated a mid-century church into their home then converted the parsonage behind their own place into ‘The Pastor’s Art House’ Airbnb. An eclectic space filled with local artwork and decor, this home is also very cozy thanks to comfy towels, extra pillows and great bedding, and thoughtful lighting. Located in picturesque Grand Rapids, Ohio, The Grand Kerr House B&B is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Building began in 1880 and took three years; the house features four-brick thick exterior walls and trim hand-carved from white oak, red oak, cherry, butternut, hard rock maple, and ash. The house boasts two hand-crafted staircases, 34 carved doors, four ceramic tiled fireplaces, and stained glass windows. Enjoy all this Victorian masterpiece has to offer - homemade breakfast is included, and spa or yoga services can be booked for an additional fee.

If you’re looking to get out of the house for a date night and chill out with a nice cocktail, Lowertown Lofts is perfect! Just steps from Toledo Spirits' Bellwether cocktail bar, this loft offers a kitchen, two bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. Best of all, you have  a private patio to take in views of The Maumee River. Double date nights also welcome, as the loft can accommodate four!

Formerly known as The Lindsey Estate, the Montego Bay House is located in Toledo’s historic Birckhead neighborhood. Established in the early 1900s, the city’s oldest gated community evokes yesteryear with winding brick roads and large central green spaces providing calming views in an area otherwise surrounded by the bustling city. The Paris Suite at Montego Bay offers a romantic feel with gold-tone rose murals lining the walls, fluffy bedding, and plush robes. Guests are welcome to enjoy the small but stunning gardens that surround the home. 

Looking to get out of town but not too far out of town? Enter this beauty of a bungalow just over the Michigan border in Lambertville. With hammocks, a fire pit, and romantic dinners on a gazebo built for two you’ll find it very easy to unwind. A fireplace and large flatscreen on which to enjoy movies make this a good cooler weather retreat as well! 

The Great Outdoors . . . 

The Cannaley Treehouse Village located within the beloved Oak Openings Metropark is the only public treehouse village in the country, and offers six-, four- and two-person treehouses plus three raised platforms attached to trees for tent and hammock camping. To make the village as complete and charming as possible, the Metroparks also has added a large, common treehouse for day-use, a group campfire gathering place, connecting boardwalks, a canopy bridge and a crow's nest. As you might imagine, the Village has been extremely popular in these first few seasons and availability can be limited; weekends are booking up to 12 months out. For those open to sleeping under the stars, the Village’s tent platform availability has been a bit more open, and Oak Openings also has a more traditional campground area nearby. 

Glamping goes eco-friendly at The Eco Camp. Located in the Oak Openings region and  convenient to the Toledo airport, the Camp operates year-round and is environmentally friendly as it is off-grid. Yurts accommodate up to four persons, and camp hosts ensure a worry-free stay even for those less experienced in outdoor adventure; stays include a comfortable queen size mattress with bedding, solar chargers for phones/gadgets, and a stove. In the winter, enjoy cross country skiing or hiking in Oak Openings, then return to a cozy yurt, as the included heaters can keep things comfy even in 10 degree weather!
