Let’s Go to the Pumpkin Patch!
Pumpkin spice lattes don’t deserve all the spotlight this fall, as there are so many more pumpkin experiences to enjoy! Whether it’s the perfect jack-o-lantern pumpkin you’re looking to pick, or hoping to get lost in a corn maze, these eight farms all around Toledo, Ohio have you covered. With pumpkin season running several more weeks, just enough fall weekends remain for your family to check them all off the list!
Pumpkin Pete’s & Gwen’s Gourds
10988 Neiderhouse Road
Perrysburg, OH 43551
Fresh off their 10th anniversary, Pumpkin Pete’s & Gwen’s Gourds of Perrysburg still haven't stopped coming up with fun new ways to bring us out to the pumpkin patch! From hosting a new food truck each day of every weekend, to straw forts, hay rides and a kids’ play area, there’s something to engage pumpkin lovers of all ages. Don’t miss the many photo ops among their over 100 varieties of pumpkins and gourds.
Fleitz Pumpkin Farm
7133 Seaman Road
Oregon, Ohio 43616
Open daily, Fleitz Pumpkin Farm is an area favorite. Having opened over thirty years ago, the farm’s claim to fame is their maze - which grows (no pun intended!) a little more each year. In 1991 corn was tied to a snow fence, but today? That tiny, first-in-the-area maze spans over six acres! If you manage not to get lost, hit up the snack shack on your way out for freshly-made donuts, cider slush, and hot sandwiches!
Trabbic Family Pumpkin Farm
1560 E. Sterns Road
Erie, MI. 48133
Also having been in operation for over 30 years is the Trabbic Family Pumpkin Farm. Many farms boast a hayride, but at Trabbic you’ll find a few more county fair-esque options during the high season; their pumpkin train is a delight for families, as your kids can opt to spin their pumpkin-shaped train car for the duration! A ‘Teddy Bear Spin’ ride is also popular for kids, and the traditional hayride comes with bonuses - included for the nominal ride fee is popcorn, cider, a donut and small U-pick pumpkin!
Gust Brothers’ Pumpkin Farm
13639 Mulberry Road
Ottawa Lake, MI 49267
Gust Brothers’ Pumpkin Farm entertains guests from Labor Day to Halloween. If you love a good fall tablescape or pride yourself on porch decoration, they’ve got everything you need - pumpkins of all sizes, straw bales, squash, gourds, corn shocks, mums, squirrel corn, fall wreaths, and more! We love the barnyard animals at Gust as well; make new friends among the cutest cows and calves, sheep, goats, baby pigs or chicks, bunnies, and kittens.
Nelson’s Pumpkins and Farm Market
6760 Brown Road
Oregon, OH 43616
Over 30 pumpkin and gourd varieties can be found at Nelson’s Pumpkins and Farm Market. A trip to Nelson’s can also satisfy your home bouquet needs, as just a few flower varieties in their u-pick flower farm area hold out until early October! A small corn maze rounds out the fun at this popular place for pumpkins in Oregon.
BJ Pumpkin Farm
9777 Secor Road
Temperance, MI 48182
A fun farm to visit, at BJ Pumpkin Farm a family game center, straw tunnel, corn stalk tunnel, carving kits and costumes are all available. Perhaps the most exciting activity though is their ‘Search & Find Corn Maze’ where visitors are encouraged to look for over sixty hidden items as they walk through. Especially helpful for families navigating the pandemic with an immunocompromised loved one, this farm offers private hayrides and u-pick experiences during weekdays. Speaking of including everyone… BJ Pumpkin Farm is one of the few that welcomes your friendly family pet to their farm!
Stevens Gardens
4550 Weckerly Roadd
Monclova, OH 43542
While Monclova’s Stevens Gardens is open daily, the real excitement happens on the weekends when their hayride, customer-favorite cow train, and corn cannon are operating! Stevens’ fall fun offerings also include a corn maze and petting zoo. Fall mums and other decor items are aplenty here, and your sweet tooth will delight in an apple cider slushie.
Country Lane Tree Farm
3525 N Bolander Road
Genoa, OH 43430
Country Lane Tree Farm has all the family-friendly fun you count during the day - pumpkins and gourds in the u-pick patch, fall decor like straw bales and stalks, and an opportunity to feed the farm animals. At night though? Prepare to be scared as the whole place flips into a frightful scene for ‘Panic In the Pines’ - a haunted farm experience featuring both a haunted hayride and wooded walking trail full of sinister surprises.
