From the Greenhouse to Your Garden: Where to Buy Plants

Toledo and the surrounding area have a plethora of fantastic places to get your plants. We stop by Bensell’s for their incredible selection of herbs and vegetable starters. Next, it’s onto Hoen’s for their colorful, ready-to-hang baskets and wide variety of decorative planters for the patio. When it’s time to add some structure to the garden with bushes and trees we take a trip out to North Branch.

Blooms on a Budget: Explore Area Plant Exchanges

Maybe you just bought a home and have a total blank slate to fill in, or you’ve been gardening for years and really need to thin out those flower beds… either way, attending an area plant exchange is an amazing way to freshen up your outdoor space - especially if you’re feeling frugal.

Toledo and Bowling Green each typically hold a large, well attended plant exchange each spring in late April or early May. Periodically, we also recommend checking the Toledo.com Events Calendar for plant or seed swaps, as these two spring events are not the only ones to be found! With the sharing economy becoming ever more popular, similar plant events pop up often.
