House of Dow
House of Dow offers a wonderland of vintage clothing in Uptown on Adams Street. Get amazing finds from the 70s, 80s, 90s and more, and occasionally happen upon looks from even further back in history; we once stopped by after the owner had completed a Victorian clothing haul! The shop has an excellent collection of both women’s and men’s fits, plus jewelry, shoes, hats, outerwear and even vintage toys. You’d do well to visit often as something new is arriving daily.

Northwood Flea Market
We headed out to the Northwood Flea Market anticipating we’d be visiting a single shop, but this haven for vintage lovers is actually a full strip mall that houses several different buildings, each with a different focus and offering of pre-loved goods. We popped into the namesake building, Northwood Flea Market, which is a go-to for tinkerers with tools, hardware, auto parts, appliances, yard tools, and more. Also worth noting at this Market building has more than a full aisle of vintage coolers and thermoses, a small selection of oil lamps, several nostalgia-inducing pencil sharpeners that appeared to be saved from 1970s or earlier school buildings, and lots of vinyl records and vintage audio and camera equipment.

We also stopped into Treasures Delight. This well organized and very large building had great variety, with furniture, lamps, clocks, cookie jars, salt & pepper shakers, furs, vintage hats and purses, and so many more treasures. Of note is their exceptional variety of vintage glassware, including Depression glass, full dishware and bar glass sets, milk glass, vintage pyrex, vases, and candy dishes in every color of glass imaginable.

In this same strip mall you can also treasure hunt at Meg’s Sweet Pickins, Vintage Toy Galore & Crafts, and Timeless Collectibles. Go check it out!

Stir up happy childhood memories at the Sylvania Toy Company, where you’ll find toys from the 1960s through today. Pop by to admire favorite from yesterday like G.I. Joes, Care Bears, Matchbox cars, Ghostbusters, My Little Pony, Popples, Star Wars and more.

The Vault is incredibly well organized - no tripping over errant piles of old things here! Their tidy shop offers all kinds of vintage finds; our most recent visit yielded a small collection of antique dollhouses, vintage furniture for every room in the home, teapots, lamps, pennants from local high schools and vintage travel memorabilia, coin collections, schoolhouse chairs, linens, and even some vintage Harley attire! If you’re refurbishing an old home, we also spotted a good number of antique doorknobs and drawer pulls! Furniture refinishers can also find a line of chalk paint in stock at The Vault.

Uptown Antiques
Housed in a former circa 1865 brewery, Uptown Antiques operates in a building which closed well before today’s non-alcoholic beer trend picked up steam! Huebner Brewery closed in 1922 after the owner attempted unsuccessfully to produce NA libations between the temperance movement and prohibition. Lucky for us, after many years of being used by local businesses as a warehouse, the Uptown Antiques team procured and opened the building for eager vintage shoppers to browse. Here, you’ll find an eclectic assortment including costume jewelry, glassware, art, tools, and holiday decor.

Vintage Events

Vintage-focused events and pop-up markets have become increasingly popular, and the Toledo area is host to a few, including the Finders Keepers Vintage Market and Thrift & Sip.

Finders Keepers has been an area favorite since their first market back in 2016. Today, they present markets nearly every month and hop around the region–from Toledo to Maumee here in Ohio, then nearby in Michigan in cities such as Chelsea and Belleville. Each market date features 125 or more vendors, food trucks, live music and more.

Thrift & Sip is new to the vintage events scene, having launched just this spring at Maumee Bay Brewing Company in downtown Toledo. The event will return later this summer for a second round, and brings together live musicians, your favorite craft brews, great food, and over 50 vintage, thrift and handmade vendors.
