All Around Toledo: Area Festivals & Fairs We Look Forward To

JUNE

With June comes summer, and a full schedule of festivals to start the season off right. First up is the Old West End Festival, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2023! Running Friday through Sunday, don’t miss the Saturday morning parade, the art fair, historic home tours, and music at both the Arboretum and on porches of neighbors all across this storied neighborhood.

Speaking of porches, a newer arrival to the perennial guide is Bowling Green’s third annual Porchfest - one day, five hours, and so many bands to enjoy across town!

If food festivals are more your flavor, those events steal the show mid-month. Celebrate the 40th annual Whitehouse Cherry Fest with a slice of pie, then hit the Holland Strawberry Fest (a staple since the 1930s) for shortcake a week later. Shift from sweet to savory in the third week of June when you attend the Toledo Beer & Bacon Fest.

June concludes with one of our area’s best known art festivals. Enjoy Crosby Festival of the Arts at the beautiful Toledo Botanical Garden where you’ll find ceramics, fiber art, blown and fused glass, jewelry, woodworking, paintings, photography and more.

JULY

July brings with it so many different ways to have fun, from the many motorcycles of the Sommer Fest Car & Bike Show to the abundance of mozzarella at Pizza Palooza.

If Pizza Palooza leaves you in search of other ways to sample delicious local food, save the date for the Northwest Ohio Rib Off as well. This popular event has been going nearly 40 years strong and brings in big name music acts in addition to the barbeque fare - this year catch Little River Band on Friday and Gabby Barrett headlining Saturday.

The tunes continue with Toledo’s African American Festival where Stokley, Ginuwine, Freddie Jackson and Zapp will take the stage. This two day event also features a prayer breakfast and parade.

July sees the start of county fair season, with the Lucas County Fair event up first. The Monroe County Fair just over the border in Michigan follows, and the month closes out with the Wood County Fair, now 150 years strong!
