Toledo School for the Arts names Robert A. Koenig as School Director

The Toledo School for the Arts Board of Directors named Robert A. Koenig as the School Director at its October 12, 2023, board meeting. Rob has been serving as the interim School Director since the departure of previous director Doug Mead in 2022.
Rob has been a successful attorney and partner at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP for over 35 years, and he is widely recognized for his various activities in the performing arts world of the Toledo community and his commitment to TSA. He served as one of the original board members of TSA which is now celebrating its 25-year anniversary. As board chair from 2002 – 2010, he was instrumental in TSA’s successful rise to one of Ohio’s strongest community schools.
Rob was also active with the Toledo Ballet and served as a board member for over 15 years, including seven as board president. Theater and dance are his calling as he also currently serves as board chair for the Issue Box Theatre and the Toledo Repertoire Theatre. In addition, Rob was named a YMCA of Greater Toledo Trustee for Life after serving 12 years as a board member including three years as board chair.
He has also been instrumental in sound design for local theater musicals including productions for TSA, the Toledo Repertoire Theatre, Toledo Ballet and Issue Box Theatre.
“We are delighted that Rob has accepted this role as TSA continues to grow following the success of our recent ‘Next Big Thing’ campaign which opens our doors to more students with more opportunities for academic growth aligned with the visual and performing arts,” said Olivia Summons, TSA board president. “We are looking forward to Rob’s leadership in developing increased collaborations with the local arts community.”
Rob received his Bachelor of Arts from Case Western Reserve University and his law degree from New York Law School where he received the Distinguished Writing Award and served as the managing editor of the New York Law School Journal of International and Comparative Law.
