Toledo’s favorite eatery is seeing the green in life in a new partnership with the city’s beloved park system.
Tony Packo’s® kicks off its partnership with Toledo Metroparks by celebrating The Ribbon, an ice-skating experience at the new Glass City Metropark beginning this November. The restaurant will be taking part in a contest with prizes that include cabana rental gift certificates and Packo’s gift cards. Winners will be announced November 6th, just four days ahead of The Ribbon’s grand opening on November 10th.
Packo’s recently sponsored the Metroparks’ Pickleball tournament at Pearson Park and will also be a partner in an upcoming contest in the spring.
Tony Packo’s celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2022. Founded in 1932 by the first-generation Hungarian-American husband and wife team of Tony and Rose Packo, the iconic restaurant has served millions of guests over its long history with its famous menu of Hungarian-inspired offerings, most notably the Packo’s Hot Dog and secret recipe Chili.
The mission of Metroparks Toledo is to conserve the region’s natural resources by creating, developing, improving, protecting, and promoting clean, safe, and natural parks and open spaces for the benefit, enjoyment, education, and general welfare of the public. The Metroparks leased its first land in 1930, a provision of the “New Deal,” specifically from the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Thousands of people were put to work building Metroparks at a point in history when Toledo was devastated by the Great Depression.
