The State of Welcoming in Toledo and Lucas County

What: Learn more about the state of welcoming for immigrants, refugees, and diverse community members in Toledo and Lucas County at this free program, where preliminary findings from a study conducted by Language Equity & Access Partners (LEAP) for Welcome Toledo-Lucas County (Welcome TLC) will be presented. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. The event will conclude with a reception and light refreshments in McMaster Lobby. Advanced registration is required.

"The State of Welcoming in Toledo and Lucas County" is one of the Toledo Library's Welcoming Week programs that celebrate the diverse contributions of Northwest Ohio's immigrant communities. Welcoming Week is an annual, nationwide campaign that showcases the movement of communities striving to be more welcoming places for all, including immigrants. The 2024 campaign theme is "We're All In" and will take place Sept. 13 – 22.

When: (Tu) Sept. 17 | 5 – 6:30 p.m.

Where: Main Library McMaster Center and Lobby | 325 N. Michigan St., Toledo, Ohio 43604

Parking: Main Library has free, covered parking in an attached parking garage. Enter the parking garage from Adams Street and go down the ramp. Once you park, enter Main Library through the automatic sliding doors to reach our garage-level hallway and proceed to the stairs or elevator. Please note that the parking garage height limit is 7 ft. 6 in.

Welcoming Week is an annual campaign and celebration to showcase the movement of communities striving to be more welcoming places for all, including immigrants. Launched in 2012 by Welcoming America and its members, Welcoming Week provides individuals and communities the opportunity to proclaim welcoming values through events and local initiatives that foster mutual understanding between immigrants and non-immigrants, as well as deeper belonging for all.
