Cities United to Host Roadmap Academy Bootcamp in Toledo, Kicking Off Leading the Way Tour 2025

Cities United, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, local leaders, and grassroots organizations, will participate in an interactive Roadmap Bootcamp focused on building safer, healthier, and more hopeful communities through community-led public safety strategies. This event is part of the Cities United Leading the Way Tour 2025, which is spotlighting Toledo and other jurisdictions across the country that are finding solutions to address community violence and its impact on communities.
The Cities United Leading the Way Tour will highlight the progress being made to address gun violence in Toledo. During their visit, Cities United will engage with grassroots organizations, community members, elected officials, and young leaders to discuss Toledo's public safety ecosystem and explore how best to sustain this work.
This bootcamp will provide:
- An overview of Cities United’s Redefining Public Safety Framework and Roadmap to Safe and Healthy Communities
- A collaborative SWOT analysis to identify Toledo’s current strengths, gaps, and opportunities
- Training on effective community violence intervention strategies and tools
“Cities United’s visit shines a national spotlight on Toledo’s progress in reducing gun violence and gives us the opportunity to work with local leaders and organizations to sustain these efforts,” Malcolm Cunningham, director of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, said.
“Cities United will also establish $40,000 of investment in grassroots organizations engaged in community violence intervention to support ongoing efforts to reduce gun violence and promote peace in Toledo.”
