Nature’s Nursery And The Ohio School Of Falconry Offers A Chance To Win A Unique Falconry Experience

Until you have seen an eagle, hawk or other raptor up close, it’s hard to truly appreciate their incredible size. And even more amazing than a close-up view, is to see one fly and land on your arm. Ohio School Of Falconry and Nature’s Nursery are offering a chance for two people to share this incredible experience and it’s all for a good cause.

For the sixth year in a row, Joe Dorrian, owner of Ohio School Of Falconry in Columbus, is taking his birds on the road to Nature’s Nursery in Waterville OH to conduct two “Falconry Experience” classes. Each year, Joe makes the trip and donates his time as a fundraiser for Nature’s Nursery to give back to the wildlife rehab center and the animals that Nature’s Nursery cares for.

The classes, which are limited to 15 people each, always sell out instantly. This year, two lucky people will win a coveted seat with the biggest raptors in town. “The 15 spots in each class always sell out in just a few hours” said Allison Aey, Nature’s Nursery Executive Director.  “There are always so many disappointed people who weren’t able to grab their spot, so we decided to only sell 14 spots and raffle off the last seat in each class. This provides another chance to attend and helps us to raise some additional funds for wildlife care.” 

“Falconry Experience” participants will get to meet several large birds of prey, also known as raptors, and learn about the basics of the sport of falconry and the majestic birds that are part of the program.  After the learning session, each attendee with get to experience having a large hawk fly from across a field and land on their gloved arm.

Raffle entries are available on the Nature’s Nursery website under the events tab. Entries are $10 each and one winner will be electronically drawn on April 13th.  One winner will be drawn for both the 10am class and the 2pm class being held on May 12^th at Nature’s Nursery in Waterville (7541 Dutch Rd).
