The Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye and NFL player Chris Wormley are teaming up with the Toledo Lucas County Public Library for an expanded Main Library Takeover from noon–4 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, bringing free hands-on sports experiences, a rooftop youth football clinic and health services to families across the region.

“This Main Library Takeover brings together some of Toledo’s most beloved sports organizations to inspire kids and families to stay active, learn new skills and connect with their community,” said Jason Kucsma, Toledo Library Executive Director. “Partnering with the Wormley Family Foundation and the University of Toledo allows us to expand this event in meaningful ways and provide even more opportunities for youth and families to engage with sports, health and learning in a welcoming environment.”

Families can explore hands-on sports experiences throughout Main Library, including stickhandling, playing hockey in an inflatable hockey rink, running through the Spike Tunnel, throwing and catching games, a home run derby and button making.

On Main Library’s rooftop garden, the Wormley Family Foundation and UToledo Athletics will host a youth football clinic focused on fun, agility and coordination, while the UToledo Health Mobile Health Unit will provide free youth sports physicals and health screenings.

“Toledo shaped who I am, and creating opportunities for kids in this community is incredibly important to me,” said Chris Wormley, founder of the Wormley Family Foundation. “Partnering with the Toledo Library, the Mud Hens and the Walleye allows us to bring football, health resources and positive experiences directly to families in a fun and welcoming environment.”

The Wormley Family Foundation, launched in 2023 by NFL player Chris Wormley and his wife Alexis, is a Toledo-based nonprofit dedicated to uplifting children and families through literacy initiatives, mental health support, youth football camps and charitable community programs.

The Mud Hens and Walleye Main Library Takeover with the Wormley Family Foundation and UToledo is free and open to the public; no advance registration is required. Families are encouraged to attend and participate throughout the afternoon.

Main Library is located at 325 N. Michigan St. in downtown Toledo. For more details, visit toledolibrary.org/takeover.
