It is a period of galactic celebration at Imagination Station. Scientists have won a victory, and Jedi, Sith and Padawans are all invited to join the excitement with the opening of the new exhibit, Unofficial Galaxies, on May 23.

Unofficial Galaxies drops you right into everyone’s favorite galaxy, far, far away. This incredible private collection brings together over 100 pieces of iconic memorabilia from the beloved franchise. Unofficial Galaxies makes you feel like you’re walking right onto the set of Star Wars with signed scripts, screen-accurate costumes and character recreations from 22 different scenes across the entire Star Wars saga on display.

What: Unofficial Galaxies opens at Imagination Station

When: Saturday, May 23

Media preview night will be on Friday, May 22, from 6-8pm

Throughout different sections of the exhibit, you’ll see Anakin Skywalker’s real desk and chair from The Phantom Menace, authentic scripts from the original trilogy and signed screenplays and storyboards from David Prowse as Darth Vader. Plus, you can hop on and ride a real Landspeeder that flies over Tatooine in a virtual reality experience.

Unofficial Galaxies showcases the heart of the Star Wars universe, while also showing the science, innovation and ingenuity behind it. Throughout its nearly 50-year run, Star Wars has envisioned new worlds and new technologies, some of which have become a reality, like holograms or robotic arms, while others are still in the works.

It's the next generation of STEAM leaders that will pioneer the efforts to create and unlock new realms of science and technology we haven't seen yet, but that Star Wars inspired.

“Star Wars has inspired generations to imagine the impossible—and then make it real,” said Carl Nelson, Chief Scientist at Imagination Station. “Unofficial Galaxies brings that idea to life, showing our guests, and especially students, what’s possible when science and creativity collide.”

Set your controls to hyperspace to see Unofficial Galaxies when it officially opens on May 23 at Imagination Station. The exhibit is included with admission or membership, and runs through August 23. More information can be found at imaginationstationtoledo.org.
