The Valentine Theatre Appoints Michael Murray as Executive Director

The Board of Trustees of The Valentine Theatre has announced the appointment of Michael Murray as the organization’s next Executive Director, ushering in a new chapter for one of Northwest Ohio’s most treasured cultural institutions.

Murray, who has served as the theatre’s Director of Operations, steps into the role following his time within the organization overseeing operations, audience services, special events, community partnerships, and strategic initiatives. During his tenure, Murray has played a key role in strengthening the patron experience, expanding community engagement efforts, supporting capital improvement planning, and helping guide the theatre through continued organizational growth.

“Michael has demonstrated exceptional leadership, passion, and commitment to the Valentine Theatre and the community we serve,” said Kristen Nicholson, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “His vision for the future, combined with his deep understanding of the organization and its mission, make him the ideal person to lead the Valentine into its next era.”

Founded in 1895, the Valentine Theatre has served as a cornerstone of arts and culture in downtown Toledo for more than 130 years, presenting nationally touring performances, educational programming, films, concerts, community events, and serving as home to numerous local and regional arts organizations.

Under Murray’s leadership, the theatre plans to continue investing in community-centered programming, educational initiatives, historic preservation efforts, and strategic partnerships that broaden access to the performing arts across Northwest Ohio.
