Humane Ohio is celebrating 20 years of helping animals and the people who love them with a community Birthday Bash on Saturday, June 20th, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at Humane Ohio, located at 3948 W. Alexis Road in Toledo.
The free event is open to the public and will include clinic tours, family-friendly games and activities, a bounce house, live DJ, food trucks, local rescue and shelter partners, community resources, and a chance to learn more about Humane Ohio’s work to reduce pet overpopulation through affordable spay/neuter services.
The 20th Birthday Bash is generously sponsored by Focus CFO.
“Humane Ohio exists because this community believes animals and the people who love them deserve access to affordable, compassionate care,” said Laura Simmons-Wark, Executive Director of Humane Ohio. “As we celebrate 20 years, we are honoring the staff, volunteers, donors, veterinary professionals, rescue partners, and families who have made this work possible, and we are looking forward to continuing that mission for many years to come.”
Humane Ohio opened its physical building in 2006 with a mission to end dog and cat overpopulation in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan by providing high-quality, affordable spay/neuter services. Over the past two decades, the organization has grown into a vital resource for pet owners, rescue groups, shelters, and community cat caregivers throughout the region.
The Birthday Bash will give community members the chance to see Humane Ohio’s work up close, meet local animal welfare partners, learn more about community cat programs, enjoy family-friendly fun, and celebrate the people and partnerships that have helped Humane Ohio reach this milestone.
Guests are invited to stop by, take a tour, bring the family, enjoy music from the live DJ, grab something to eat from the food trucks, and help Humane Ohio celebrate 20 years of making a difference for animals in our region. The event will be held rain or shine.
About Humane Ohio
Humane Ohio operates a nonprofit, low-cost spay/neuter clinic that fixed 17,306 dogs and cats in 2025. Their spay/neuter clinic serves Ohio and Michigan and is able to offer low-cost spay/neuter prices because donations and grants help keep the cost low while maintaining high-quality veterinary care. All spay/neuter surgeries are performed by licensed veterinarians, DVMs. Humane Ohio also has a small adoption program that has placed more than 130 cats and kittens into loving homes within the last year.
