When dressed appropriately and mentally prepared, even the most finicky of adults are usually game to get a little muddy, especially when it’s for a great cause.  The 15th Annual Bump, Set, Splat, Mud Volleyball Tournament sponsored by Genoa Bank and hosted by the Toledo Sport and Social Club is back again this year. Registration is now open and with Nature’s Nursery Center For Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation as the charity beneficiary, you can come out and get dirty for the birdies and other local wildlife.

Bump, Set, Splat started 15 years ago as a small tournament and has now grown to include over 100 teams playing over the course of an entire day on a dozen courts. There is no shortage of willing participants, as the tournament team slots sell out each year.

The event is held at the Lucas County Fair Grounds where Klumm Brothers donates their time to excavate each court approximately 12” deep to then be filled with water for the best volleyball splats in town. “We love putting on this event each year and seeing it grow.  The mud component makes everyone move slower and really levels the playing field for all skill levels to jump in and have fun” said Jesse Spier, Owner of Toledo Sport And Social Club.

Bump, Set, Splat will be held on August 29th from 10am until approximately 7pm at the Lucas County Fair Grounds.  All proceeds from the tournament will go to Nature’s Nursery Center For Wildlife Rescue And Rehabilitation.  “Last year we raised over $18,000” said Allison Aey, Nature’s Nursery Executive Director. “It’s a fun day to get outside in nature and support local wildlife rescue.”

Teams can register now online at www.toledosportandsocialclub.com/events.  The cost is $490 per team of up to 10 people.

“The longevity of this event speaks volumes to the fun that the day brings for participants,” said Spiers. “For 15 years the event has been delivering a day for adults to get muddy like kids again. Over the years we have raised more than $130,000 for local charities and brought in an estimated $1 million in economic impact”.
