A collaboration between Lucas DD, the University of Toledo, and the Toledo Zoo, SALUTE Storytellers is a transformative 8-week workshop where individuals with developmental disabilities craft their personal stories. Through the guided coaching of Rebecca Monteleone, Associate Professor of Disability and Technology at UT, participants shape real-life experiences into compelling narratives.

The journey culminates in a performance before a live audience at the SALUTE Storytellers Showcase. This year's event features 15 individuals sharing their stories. It is being held in the Malawi Event Center at the Toledo Zoo. There will also be an art show featuring works by individuals with developmental disabilities, a performance by the Sunshine Communities Bell Choir, and a reception afterward to celebrate all the artists and performances.

The event is 2-5 p.m. July 19 at the Toledo Zoo. It is free and open to the public. Zoo admission is not required to attend. Park in the Anthony Wayne Trail parking lot and let the Main Gate know you are attending SALUTE Storytellers. Volunteers will then direct you to the Malawi Center. Shuttles will also be available to transport guests.
