North America's Largest Rug Hooking Event Turns 30 at Sauder Village

Sauder Village hosts North America’s largest annual rug hooking event this week, August 12-15, with more than 400 handmade rugs, world-renowned instructors and a never-before-seen pattern by architect and early rug hooker William Winthrop Kent 

WHO: Sauder Village, Ohio’s largest living history museum, located in Archbold, Ohio

WHAT: The 30th annual Rug Hooking Week, recognized as North America’s largest annual rug hooking event, featuring:

• More than 400 handmade rugs on display in Founder’s Hall, as fiber artists from around the world gather for four days of exhibits, classes and shopping

• Greenfield: An Original W.W. Kent Design, an exhibit of 47 unique rugs based on a never-before-seen pattern by architect and early rug hooker William Winthrop Kent – curator Lisanne Miller discovered the unpublished pattern between two filing cabinets in her Maine fiber arts store

• Early History of Rug Hooking, an homage to the evolution of the art form, and Celebration 36, an annual juried showcase curated by online publication We Like Rug Hooking, plus exhibits inspired by America’s 250th birthday

• Classes taught by internationally recognized fiber artists, drawing students from all over the world

• Vendors selling fiber arts supplies and patterns available nowhere else
