The African American Leadership Council (AALC) of United Way of Greater Toledo is proud to announce the launch of the I Invest in ME Scholarship. They will award four $1,000 scholarships to eligible college juniors and graduating seniors in Northwest Ohio. Applications are open now through September 30.

The I Invest in ME Scholarship is designed to provide meaningful financial support as students navigate the demands of finishing school and transitioning into the workforce.

The I Invest in ME Scholarship builds on AALC's growing legacy of community investment. Over the past three years, AALC has invested more than $7,000 in leadership and youth development initiatives across the region, including:

  • Sponsoring three professionals through the Leadership Toledo Signature Program
  • Providing $2,000 to Toledo Public Schools' Young Men and Women of Excellence program, and
  • Supporting a professional development opportunity through Junior Achievement's 5th Year Program.

"AALC is committed to building the next generation of leaders," said Amanda Davis, Chair of the African American Leadership Council. "We know that students are working hard, often juggling school, jobs, and personal responsibilities all at once. The I Invest in ME Scholarship is our way of saying we see you, we believe in you, and we want to help you move forward."

The scholarship is funded by proceeds from the AALC's annual I Invest in ME Leadership Conference & Fundraiser. This year’s conference will take place on Thursday, November 12, at Owens Community College.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Current college junior (third-year by credits) or graduating senior (Spring 2027)
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university in Northwest Ohio

Applications are available online at unitedwaytoledo.org/iime-scholarship. The deadline to apply is September 30.
