A Jeep Memorabilia Collection

We've featured a small part of Nelson Shaffer's unique Toledo collection here on Toledo Time Travels this past year. With the 2022 Jeep Fest set to launch later this week, we thought we should share a few photographs of Nelson's Willy's and Jeep collection. 

With a goal of developing one of the broadest private collections of Toledo memorabilia, Nelson is on a mission to preserve the Toledo story. His extensive collection started with coins when he was ten years old. Today, as Toledo City President at Citizens National Bank, he maintains a diverse list of contacts throughout Northwest Ohio, and this network helps him enhance his collection.

"One of the greatest rewards from collecting has been meeting other passionate collectors and developing friendships with others that care about the history of the Toledo area," Nelson told us in a recent interview.

As for his Jeep collection, Nelson said, "For me, the "Holy Toledo" category is anything related to Willys/Overland/Jeep.  There is so much history to the evolution of this brand, and it still exists today."
