Network TV Arrives

1948:  Network television in the Midwest begins at 6:00 p.m. when ABC connects its WENR-TV/Chicago with stations in Cleveland, Toledo, Buffalo, St. Louis, and Milwaukee via coaxial cable. On the same day, NBC-TV opens its Midwest network at 7:00 p.m. linking its affiliates in Chicago, Buffalo, Toledo, Detroit, Milwaukee, and St Louis.
