1869: A public meeting is held at Hunker's Hall (on Summit, between Madison and Adams) to draft a constitution for the Toledo Woman Suffrage Association. Many local women helped carry the banner for legal and political equality for women in post-civil war Toledo. This group was active until 1915 when it became part of the Political Equity League. Today, we know this group as the League of Women Voters of Toledo-Lucas County. This photograph is of the Toledo Woman Suffrage Association in downtown Toledo in 1912.
